Creating positive change. Providing creative solutions.
Giving back to the communities we live in.
CANA Foundation was established on the premise that we are blessed with individual talents, financial resources, and a successful company that provides a platform for the CANA family to connect with and give back to community areas we feel passionate and care about. We believe we have an obligation to use those skills and resources to help individuals and organizations in our communities overcome barriers they face.
Our mission is simple –
We are committed to creating positive change and providing creative solutions to problems to enhance the lives of people, organizations and the environment in our communities.
We are leaders within non-for-profit organizations; we participate within local community and national groups; and we contribute our time, resources, expertise, and experience to various other organizations. We do not just believe in giving back, we live it.
At CANA Advisors we are proud to be members and supporters of the following organizations:
Initiatives In Action
Second Annual Speed Into Science Event
In April 2018, CANA Advisor’s Jerome Dixon spent a fun-filled, science-inspired day with 300 eighth grade students from local Richmond area secondary schools at the Richmond International Raceway participating in the second annual Speed Into Science event. Speed Into Science uses the science of racing to complement classroom learning and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOL) requirements.
The event consisted of four stations that were developed by local teachers and RVA STEM to show real world application of motion, chemistry, audio analysis, thermal energy, and friction. RVA STEM is a volunteer nonprofit group that works to inspire, engage, and educate under-served youth in the Greater Richmond, Virginia community in science, technology, engineering and math fields. Jerome Dixon is an RVA STEM executive board member and a passionate STEM and STEAM (STEM with Arts) supporter.
A bonus to this year’s event was Virginia Tech’s School of Engineering sending over their hybrid electrical vehicle team that designed and developed a hybrid version of a V-8 Chevrolet Camaro. A great real-world application demonstrating how a STEM education prepares students for today and tomorrow’s job market.

CANA Foundation is proud to support CANA Advisors’ employees’ efforts to give back to their local communities in areas they are passionate about, as well as partner with organizations like RVA STEM to support worthy causes such as youth STEM education and development.
Acacia Family Medical Group Data Analysis
CANA Advisors, under the CANA Foundation, recently performed a pro-bono, ‘big data’ analysis for Acacia Family Medical Group, a small, family centered practice on the California Central Coast. What began as a series of personal discussions grew into a Foundation-sponsored effort to address questions arising from their practice. Using his background in Operations Research and Statistics, Principal Analyst Harrison Schramm set out to answer a nagging question: Had changes in medical policies involving the diagnosis of depression been reflected in the actions that the Practice took? You may read the full article here.
This analysis is indicative of the type of work that professional Operations Research Analysts – including those at CANA – can bring to diverse problems.
